In my dunk test, the soft shell fabric sheds water easily, but the leather absorbs water. No water gets through, and the hands stay dry. I find these gloves fit better than others, even though they are the same size, so I can wear them with a thin inner liner.

This is not good or bad; it's just a fact. It is up to the user to decide what tasks the gloves are used for and which features are most important. Sometimes you just need to take gloves to perform certain tasks, such as manipulating the controls on the camera or weapons in very cold weather, when bulky gloves do not allow it.

Overall, I was impressed with the quality, fit, feel and dexterity. A lot of thought has been put into their design, and the construction is top notch. I have found that I like the extra grip that Pittards digi-leather version of the Max Grip nt provides.

This is not just an extra layer sewn on top of the Clarino leather; it is a layer to preserve tactility. The M's Gripper is just a great cold weather and practical fleece glove with lots of "grip".
I can still manipulate a pistol or rifle with it, but some of the finer controls like slide release lock back etc. I did a quick dexterity/tactility test by loading a 9mm round into the magazine.
I was able to do it without problems when looking, and it is still possible to feel, but barely. I find that the Carson gloves work well as lightweight, low bulk waterproof gloves that still provide dexterity for manipulating the controls of a handgun and rifle.

I can load 9mm rounds into the magazine with no problems, with a little more difficulty by feel because the Alpengrip material is stiffer than Nabi leather and VIgil gloves, but I can still do it, just slowly.

2/18/06 - SWMS announced at the 2006 SHOT Show in Vegas that they have now partnered with Camelbak to produce SWMS gloves. Congratulations, Martina! Along with the announcement of some updates to the CT model and some of the new gloves.
I received pre-production samples of these a few months ago but waited until after SHOT to preview them - they will be available mid-year. I asked Martina about the gloves that are not black, and she will say 'it is in progress' and explain that this barrier has antistatic material in colors other than black.
Pre-production samples of the two new models are shown below and I think they are very promising (note that changes will be made in the final version):
